Design and set up a chart of accounts that is most relevant for your business and industry.
Determine your QuickBooks starting date
Load your balances as of that starting date from either your old system, or your most current tax return documentation.
Define your list of products and/or services that are sold to your customers.
Add outstanding accounts receivable (customer) and accounts payable (vendor) details as of your starting date
Update all banking information including prior period bank balances and outstanding transactions, etc., as of your starting date
Verify correct setup, comparing old system balances or tax return to QuickBooks.
Enter all transactions from your start date to the present date.
